McDonald’s All-America Games Present Country’s Best Hoops Players

On Wednesday, March 28, the best high school basketball players in the country will be in action in the greatest annual showcase of talent in the country as the McDonald’s All-America Game takes place at the United Center.

The girls game starts first at 6:00 PM CT. Among notable alumni of the McDonald’s game is Chicago’s own Candace Parker who was once in the slam dunk contest against the boys (including LeBron James) before attending Tennessee and ultimately playing in the WNBA.

Chicago will be represented in the girls’ game by guard Janee Thompson from Whitney Young High School, Jewell Lloyd from Niles West High School and Morgan Tuck from Bolingbrook High School. Also playing will be 2012 McDonald’s Player of the Year Breanna Stewart from Cicero-North Syracuse High School (Syracuse, NY).

Since 1978, some of the greatest names in recent basketball history, including Michael Jordan, Shaquille O’Neal, Kobe Bryant, and Chicago’s own Derrick Rose, have all played in the historic and prestigious event. This year’s game should be no different as some of these players that will almost certainly end up in the NBA.

Among the players expected to play in this year’s game is Shabazz Muhammad, the 2012 McDonald’s Player of the Year. Muhammad, from Bishop Gorman High School (Las Vegas), averaged 30 points and 10 rebounds per game this year.

Seats range from $12 to $82, and parking is free in any United Center authorized parking lot. A Family Four Pack is available for just $53, including four 300 Level tickets and a voucher for four hot dogs and four 16 ounce soft drinks at selected concession stands. These are sold in multiples of 4, with a ticket limit of 8.

All proceeds from the event benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities of Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana, and the event has raised millions of dollars in its 35 years.
