I love heading out for brunch on Sunday mornings. Though slow Sunday brunch dates spent lounging over Bloody Mary’s and quiet, long conversations have been mostly suspended during the children-rearing years, it still is possible to enjoy a Sunday brunch out.
Luckily, one Chicago area restaurant has kept families in mind with its Sunday brunch and kid’s concert series. Beat Kitchen, located in the neighborhood of Roscoe Village, offers kid-focused entertainment every Sunday, from 11 am – 3 pm. From The Boogers to Mary Macaroni, anyone who’s anyone in the kidie music biz has played Beat Kitchen. I’ve seen some of these musicians in concert, and parents, I promise, you won’t be annoyed with mind-numbing, shrill kid’s music; I guarantee that you too will laugh and maybe even find yourself singing along or at least tapping your feet to the beat.
There’s something to please everyone on Beat Kitchen’s brunch menu, which features all things spicy – smoked salmon with peppercorn bacon – and sweet – French toast with carmelized bananas and maple pecan butter.
Concert tickets are just $6 and the menu is a la carte.
Beat Kitchen is located at 2100 West Belmont Avenue. Reservations can be made by calling 773-281-4444. For more info, including the 2012 kids concert lineup, visit beatkitchen.com
